AHARA Mushrooms Publishes Most Comprehensive Metabolomic Analysis Ever Conducted on a Mushroom Supplement
The science behind every claim on this page.
Each asset is independently produced. The metabolomic data was generated by an independent third-party metabolomics laboratory. The PSQI study used validated sleep methodology. The pathway map below visualizes the same dataset for editorial use.
Metabolomic characterization of AHARA Reishi and Lion's Mane extracts
Dual-panel CE-MS and LC-MS mass spectrometry. 1,469 unique metabolites identified across 8,757 molecular features. 26 ganoderic acids recovered via water-based extraction. Validated by Human Metabolome Technologies, Japan.

85 percent of participants showed clinically meaningful PSQI improvement (3-point reduction or greater). Sleep onset dropped from 65 minutes to 22 minutes (66 percent reduction). Zero tolerance, zero morning grogginess. p < 0.001.

Below: transmission electron microscopy of the nanofibers suspended in the Reishi Elixir. Imaging performed at the University of Maryland.
Each fiber is a few microns long. They are suspended in the liquid extract inside the dropper bottle. There is no separate film, no strip, no capsule.
When you place one full dropper under your tongue, the nanofibers carry the active compounds across the sublingual mucosa directly into your bloodstream. The gut and the liver are bypassed. That is the entire delivery story, and the reason the product works at a fraction of the dose a capsule would need.
1,421 unique compounds. Every one of them named.
Most mushroom supplements cannot name a single compound in their extract. We sent ours to an independent third-party metabolomics laboratory and asked them to characterize it. Dual-panel CE-MS and LC-MS mass spectrometry. The result is the most comprehensive metabolomic characterization of a Reishi mushroom extract published to date.
A capsule is one compound. Our extract is a library.
A typical sleep capsule contains one or two active compounds. One drop of AHARA Reishi Elixir delivers a documented set of neuromodulators, sleep-pressure precursors, anti-inflammatory triterpenes, and short-chain organic acids, all hitting multiple therapeutic pathways at once. That is why the same drop does the work of melatonin plus magnesium plus L-theanine plus an adaptogen, without any of the trade-offs of those single-compound stacks.
End to end on US soil, on one chain of custody.
AHARA does not import extract. The mushrooms are grown here, the proprietary water-based extraction happens here, the lots are tested here, and the bottles are filled here. That is unusual in this category, and we built the company that way on purpose.
Grow
Mushrooms cultivated in an AHARA-controlled US facility.
Extract
Proprietary water-based process. No ethanol, no methanol. Recovers all 26 ganoderic acids.
Test
Independent metabolomics laboratory (CE-MS and LC-MS mass spectrometry) and University of Maryland TEM imaging for nanofiber characterization.
Manufacture
Bottled and finished domestically. Headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.

We are not a supplement company that does some science. We are a biotech company that sells supplements.Ajay Malghan, CEO
The nanofibers are suspended in the extract itself. Under your tongue, they carry the active compounds across the sublingual mucosa within minutes, without first-pass metabolism. That is the same engineering category I worked on when I co-authored the FDA's first nanotechnology guidance document.Dr. Subhas Malghan, Ph.D.
The mushroom supplement industry assumes you need alcohol to extract triterpenes. We proved otherwise. All 26 ganoderic acids in our Reishi were recovered with water alone, and an independent lab in Japan put a name on every other metabolite that came out of the process.Ajay Malghan, CEO
We do not import extract. We grow the mushrooms in the United States, we run the extraction here, we test the lots here, and we bottle them here. That is unusual in this category, and we built the company that way on purpose.Aaron Grimes, MBA

AHARA Mushrooms is a US biotech company founded in 2021 and headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. The company develops sublingual nanofiber extracts of medicinal mushrooms, beginning with a Reishi Elixir formulated to support sleep through the adenosine pathway and a Lion's Mane Elixir for cognitive performance and gut-brain health.
AHARA's Reishi Elixir has been characterized by a leading metabolomics laboratory using dual-panel CE-MS and LC-MS mass spectrometry. The analysis identified 1,421 compounds in the Reishi extract across 17 therapeutic pathways, including 26 ganoderic acids recovered via a proprietary water-based extraction process without ethanol or methanol. The nanofiber delivery format, the world's first sublingual nanofiber supplement, has been validated by University of Maryland transmission electron microscopy imaging.
In a 30-day observational evaluation (n=20, ages 25-62), 85 percent of participants reported clinically meaningful sleep improvement, defined as a PSQI reduction of 3 points or greater. Post-intervention, 50 percent achieved sleep onset within 15 minutes and 95 percent within 30 minutes, compared with a baseline of greater than 30 minutes for most participants. No tolerance developed over 30 days. A larger placebo-controlled trial with objective sleep measures is planned.
The company is founded by Ajay Malghan (CEO), Dr. Subhas Malghan (co-author of the FDA's first nanotechnology guidance document), and Aaron Grimes. More at aharamushrooms.com.
